On behalf of our City of London clients we have been carrying out research on City office rateable values and have identified a situation where a substantial number of occupiers have overpaid on their Business Rates by an equivalent of up to 16% of their annual rates bill. Refunds due should apply to rates already paid for 2005/06 and in some cases 2006/07 and 2007/07 as well.
From our search of the Rating List it would appear that these circumstances apply to many City offices. If you have not appointed Rating Consultants, we can investigate this matter for you. We can pursue a refund or amended bill on an entirely success related fee basis of 25% (+VAT) of any reduction in rates already paid.
