MUA are recognised as the UK's leading advisors on the Rating of Petrol Stations, acting for both oil companies and independent retailers.
Acting on behalf of the United Kingdom Petroleum Industry Association (UKPIA) we have agreed the scheme of valuation that applies to petrol filling stations for the 2005 revaluation.
For the first time we were successful in agreeing that hypermarket forecourts are valued on exactly the same basis as independently run forecourts.
The scheme of valuation has regard to forecourt volume and margins together with shop and carwash turnovers.
Appeals can be made against the original 1st April 2005 assessment or to reflect changes to the site or locality that have had an impact on trade. This includes increased competition from new or refurbished hypermarkets, petrol stations or convenience stores. Other factors include competition from independent car wash sites, changes to road layout and roadworks
Due to the specialist nature of the valuation we recommend that retailers instruct a Chartered Surveyor who has a specialist knowledge of petrol filling stations to deal with appeals on their behalf.
